Boost Your Chi (Energy) Using These 3 Sacred Herbs


Cultivating chi with herbs has been practiced for thousands of years. Whether you want to boost your bodily energy, development yourself spiritually or simply give yourself more will that fortifies all your practices, these three little known sacred herbs can help you along the way.

Before we go into these rare herbs let’s talk about chi.

According to many traditional Chinese cultures, “Chi or Qi”literally translates to “breath”, “air”, or “gas”, and is considered “material energy”, “life force”, or “energy flow”. Qi is the central underlying principle in traditional Chinese medicine and many martial arts across the globe.

Hindu philosophies contain a similar idea that is promoted in Yoga and Ayurveda. In Sanskrit, Prana is the word for “life force” or “vitality”. Prana refers to the overall energy of which everything consists — from cosmic energy, to the energy in your body.

You probably already know what I’m about to say… Yes, there are literally herbs you can take to cultivate this life force energy in your body, mind and spirit. And my three favorite ones for this are relatively unknown to anybody but herbalists and insiders, so I’m letting you in on a powerful little secret.

#3 Jiaogulan~ This herb is best known for it’s powerful antioxidant and stress reducing effects, and it’s said to increase longevity as well. Many people whom consume jiaogulan on a regular basis give it credit for their long happy lives. Studies have found jiaogulan functions as both an adaptogenic herb and an antioxidant, containing many healthy saponins (chemical compounds having a soapy characteristic), as well as trace minerals, amino acids, proteins, and vitamins. Known as an “immortality herb,” jiaogulan is traditionally used for many different health issues and is being studied for its anti-aging effects.

#2 Reishi Mushroom~ Known as a powerful Shen or(Spirit) tonic, reishi mushroom is in a class of it’s own. I personally believe it’s the greatest Shen tonic of them all. The Chinese believe it protects your Spirit and nurtures your intelligence, wisdom and spiritual insight. Reishi is also a superb anti-stress herb. Turn it into a tea, and it’s an excellent way to boost your immune system’s innate ability to fight cold flus and viruses. Many Taoists and chi gung practitioners use reishi mushroom to increase their spiritual abilities, fortify their chi and to be more successful in everything they do.

#1 Wild Asparagus Root~ Wild asparagus root is used for both its spiritual and physical effects. It’s known as the “flying herb” by Taoists and Tibetan monks for its ability to make you fly. I personally think it’s very important to understand how to increase your levels of chi or life force energy, and fortunately, there are a ton of options at your finger tips.
