Christina Lavers – Over the last few years I couldn’t help but notice the energetic intensity that sweeps into my life in August. I first noticed this effect back in ’96 during my initial awakening experience. In that month coincidences were out of control and it felt as though the veil was extremely thin. That period was an electrifying and intriguing time because experiencing the feeling of powerful magic bleeding through into this reality was a rare and precious experience that helped me to develop the capacity to be in relationship with the deeper aspects of being.
Fast forward a couple of decades and things are very different. Like any relationship there are stages involved in the process. The initial stage was the fun and exciting fairytale stage that made me want to explore deeper. However, like any valuable and healthy relationship the more we connect, the more we become challenged to look at ourselves honestly, to recognize and own our shadows, and to expand and grow through the experience. While this tends not to be fun or comfortable, it is always highly productive and ultimately pushes us towards our highest truth and expression.
When I first heard about the Lion’s Gate portal, an apparently super powerful cosmic window (starting on July 26th and peaking on the eighth day of the eighth month), I took it with a grain of salt. But then, after a few years of consistently having my butt kicked on the eighth of the eighth I became convinced that there was something to this gateway and possibly a bit of prep wouldn’t go astray.
This year the Lion’s Gate peak falls the day after a partial eclipse and is followed by a full eclipse later in month. Eclipses in my experience shake things up by bringing to light that which was long ago tucked away into the dark recesses of our being. Those fragmented parts and feelings that life taught us were less than desirable need to be uncovered, and integrated through the heart so that we may return to wholeness. Working in tandem the Lion’s Gate, an energetic gateway that tends to highlight behaviours and activities that are not aligned with our highest good, August is likely to be a crazy, intense month.
I feel there are a few keys to better navigate this month. The most important will be an open positive approach. Love is open and expansive, while fear is closed and contracted. When we fight, ignore or try to control powerful energies we are likely to make the process a lot more uncomfortable for ourselves. If instead we meet whatever surfaces in this month with acceptance and love, we will discover a powerful opportunity for healing and growth. This energy feels like it is offering us the chance to really step up. I feel it will help crystallize a lot of the work so many of us have been diligently consolidating on the inside, so that we have an even stronger foundation from which we can effectively reach out and share our own unique gifts with the world.
Connecting with others can be a great way to take the edge off when the energies are intense. However, the important thing will be to let go of any need to compare our personal process to others. Comparison is a powerful habit that has been ingrained in so many of us through years of social programming. However, this deep inner process that current energies are fuelling is about finding our own inner power, truth and purpose. In the deeper realms there is no better than or worse than…there is just lots of beautiful diversity … infinite expressions. The more we can trust our own personal process, without looking outside ourselves for approval or direction, the easier it will be to manifest our inner dreams into external reality.
This brings us to another concept that seems to be demanding attention lately, divine timing. The more we learn to take our cues and directives from within, the more we may find that there are times when we just can’t adhere to a rigid schedule. No matter how well planned, or thought out the schedule might be, if we force ourselves to adhere to it, we may discover that the quality of what we produce suffers. Sometimes we have no choice but to stick to the timeline – however, when possible, if we take the time to honour and explore the inner lags we may discover that rather than just simple fear or procrastination, there is actually a higher purpose behind the urge to drag our feet. So this month, make an effort not to force anything. If something suddenly seems flat don’t be afraid to sit with it for a while. Looking a little deeper we may discover a better, more sustainable way forward.
Finally, grounding will be another way to help mitigate the intense energies that will be affecting us this month. When we ground we establish a powerful connection between ourselves and the planet. The beauty of this relationship is that it is symbiotic. When we channel the high frequency cosmic energies down into the Earth we help to nurture the loving planetary force by offering energy and vitality that will assist to raise the consciousness of the planet and all connected. The energy that returns to us when we ground through our planetary mother is no longer so intense, instead it is gentle and supportive and much easier to work with. Take a few minutes to connect to the Earth everyday … this will be especially important around the eclipses.
Scolecite: Scolecite will be a very useful stone to have on hand this month because it is excellent for soothing the nervous system and helping connect us with the higher levels of being. Over time this high-vibrational stone helps us to better understand our soul journey. It promotes a deep, restful sleep and meaningful dreams.
Selenite: Selenite is another I will be keeping close this month. It is a high-vibrational stone that helps to bring light energy from the higher realms down into physical reality. It is useful for clearing negativity from its environment, including our personal auric fields. Selenite promotes truth and honesty and so can be very useful in important sharing and negotiations. For self-exploration selenite is powerful tool that can help us achieve clarity.
Topaz: Topaz energy has a strong uplifting, loving, reassuring quality that is at once soothing and invigorating. Topaz is often called a stone for success because it helps us clarify and focus our intent. It is a great stone to use during visualizations or when working with affirmations.
Heart stones: Rose quartz, danburite, kunzite and similar will also help keep us aligned with our heart assisting us to stay in a loving, positive state.
Grounding stones: My personal favourite grounding stone for intense energies is smoky quartz as it also absorbs stress. For those who feel that their personal energy is being compromised by external forces, super-protective black tourmaline is perfect.
The crystals described here are suggestions of stones that support the integration of loving energy. However, there are other stones that could be substituted for the ones above. Work with what feels right for you.
